Software Engineer – Telecel Cash

Role Purpose
Design, develop, test, integrate, and maintain high-quality software solutions that support Telecel Cash products and services. Work closely with the Solutions Architect & Engineering Manager and cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable applications that meet business and customer requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and services in line with approved solution architecture and engineering standards.
  • Produce clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that meets quality and security requirements.
  • Develop and support integrations with banks, payment switches, merchants, regulators, and third-party systems using APIs and middleware technologies. Troubleshoot integration issues and ensure reliable data exchange across platforms.
  • Participate in unit, integration, system, and user acceptance testing.
  • Support application deployments, production releases, and post-go-live activities while assisting in the resolution of application issues and defects.
  • Participate in code reviews, adhere to engineering standards, and contribute to DevSecOps, CI/CD, and automation initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve application performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Work closely with architects, product owners, QA engineers, business stakeholders, and operations teams to deliver solutions on time and within scope.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical discussions.

Must have Technical / Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in software development.
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript).
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs, microservices, and enterprise applications.
  • Knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle) and SQL.
  • Experience with Git and modern software development practices.
  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in fin-tech, digital payments, mobile money, or telecommunications.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of secure software development practices and application security principles.
  • Experience with integration technologies, messaging platforms, and middleware.
