Job Summary:
The Senior Specialist, Infrastructure Planning is responsible for the strategic planning, design governance, and capacity management of the organisation’s infrastructure platforms (compute, storage, network, and hybrid cloud environments). The role ensures that infrastructure is scalable, resilient, cost-efficient, and aligned with current and future business demands through proactive forecasting, standardisation, and technology optimisation.

Job Role
- Lead the end-to-end planning of cloud services (public, private, hybrid).
- Plan and lead migration waves (e.g., landing zones, workload transitions) and coordinate transition to operations.
- Drive process optimisation, standardisation, documentation discipline, and post‑implementation reviews to improve delivery.
- Develop and maintain the infrastructure roadmap aligned with enterprise and business strategy
- Translate business demand into infrastructure capacity plans
- Define target architecture for on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments
- Support long-term digital transformation and cloud migration strategies
- Evaluate emerging technologies (cloud, virtualization, container platforms, automation tools)
- Provide recommendations on OEMs and platforms (e.g., cloud providers, hardware vendors)
- Drive standardization and modernization initiatives
- Perform capacity modelling and forecasting (compute, storage, network, licensing)
- Review and approve infrastructure designs across projects
- Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture standards
- Define infrastructure design principles, blueprints, and standards
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and Security teams
- Act as the interface between business units, application teams, and infrastructure delivery
- Evaluate infrastructure requirements for new projects and initiatives
- Support business case development and cost estimation
- Prioritise infrastructure initiatives based on value and risk

- Close all the Section’s Audit Observations within the agreed timelines.
Education
- Minimum of a University Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field of study
- Professional certifications advantageous (e.g., ITIL, COBIT5, PRINCE2/PMP, Cloud certifications (Azure/AWS), security fundamentals) a must.
- Master’s degree (MBA/IT/Engineering) is an added advantage.
- Experience Minimum of 5 years’ experience in infrastructure planning, architecture, or engineering.
- Experience in large enterprise / telecom / cloud environments.
- Proven experience in capacity planning, cloud adoption, and infrastructure transformation.
- Experience in telecoms/regulated environments and multi‑stakeholder delivery models is advantageous.
Knowledge
- Delivery leadership: planning, prioritization, dependency management, benefits Infrastructure Domains: Compute, storage, virtualization, networking, data centers
- Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP (multi-cloud knowledge preferred)
- Container Platforms: Kubernetes, OpenShift
- Automation & DevOps: CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
- Monitoring & Analytics: Capacity and performance tools
- Licensing Knowledge: Oracle, Microsoft, VMware, Red Hat.
- Knowledge of IT service management, reliability, capacity, monitoring, incident/problem linkages and DR/BCP requirements.
- Structured root cause thinking, data-driven decisions, and risk-based trade-offs.
- Stakeholder Management, negotiation and influence across technical and business teams.
