About the Client
Our client is a forward-thinking UK-based Mobile Network Operator, focused on IoT connectivity. Powering millions of active SIMs globally, they’ve built their network infrastructure in-house to empower partners across diverse industries with reliable, scalable IoT solutions.
The Role
We’re hiring two experienced Senior Mobile Network Engineers to lead the daily operations and maintenance of our client’s mobile network. This remote, interim role offers the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.
While deep experience in a similar production mobile network environment is ideal, we’re also open to candidates with strong technical foundations, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of Mobile Core systems (HLR/HSS, STP/DRA, PGW, IMS) and connectivity platforms (Radius, OCS, BSS)
- Own and manage infrastructure across switching, routing, data centers, and servers
- Monitor service performance, proactively resolve network issues, and maintain high availability
- Lead projects to expand network footprint, services, and partner integrations
- Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Ensure compliance with security policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain clear, thorough documentation of all systems and processes
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Solid experience maintaining mission-critical mobile or telecom networks
- In-depth knowledge of telecom protocols: SS7, GTP, Diameter, MAP, CAMEL, AAA, SMPP, SIP, VoLTE, etc.
- Expertise in monitoring and automation tools (e.g., Grafana, SNMP, Syslog)
- Experience with mobile network components: HLR/HSS, PGW/GGSN, STP/DRA, IMS, SMSC
- Strong understanding of core network protocols (IPv4, BGP, OSPF, MPLS) and vendors (Cisco, Nexus, Fortinet)
- Proficiency in Linux (Ubuntu, HAProxy) and Windows Server (IIS, MS-SQL)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (especially Azure), Terraform, and Kubernetes
- Scripting or coding skills in PowerShell, Bash, or C#/.NET (a plus)
- Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to operational excellence
- Willingness to be part of an on-call rotation to support 24/7 network operations
