We’re looking for motivated Research Assistants to join a series of systematic review and evidence synthesis projects focused on digital health across Sub-Saharan Africa. If you’re passionate about research, global health, AI, or healthcare innovation, this is an opportunity to gain hands-on research experience while contributing to publishable work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Compensation: This is an unpaid research collaboration. In place of a salary, contributors are recognized as co-authors on the resulting manuscript(s), in accordance with standard authorship guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Current Projects<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Wearable sensor-based health technologies in Sub-Saharan Africa (approx. 8 weeks)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Machine learning for chronic disease risk prediction in Sub-Saharan Africa (approx. 8 weeks)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Cost-effectiveness of mobile health (mHealth) interventions in Sub-Saharan Africa (approx. 9 weeks, includes a formal quality-appraisal stage)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each project has a few clearly defined roles open:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2705 Co-Reviewer \u2014 helps search and screen the literature<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2705 Data Charting Lead \u2014 extracts and organizes the data<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2705 Data Analyst \u2014 turns the data into patterns and figures<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2705 Writer \u2014 turns the analysis into the manuscript<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What You’ll Do<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Screen scientific articles for eligibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Extract and organize research data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Assist with evidence synthesis and analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Contribute to manuscript writing and editing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Participate in weekly research meetings and discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What We’re Looking For<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Interest in digital health, public health, AI, medicine, or related fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Ability to read and synthesize scientific literature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Good written communication skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Preferred Qualifications<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Previous experience with systematic reviews or evidence synthesis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Experience with research writing or academic publications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Familiarity with databases such as PubMed, Scopus, or Web of Science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
* Experience using reference management software (e.g., Zotero, EndNote, Mendeley).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Previous publication experience is a plus, but not required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
