The joint venture brings together MTN Fintech\u2019s deep market reach across Africa and Alipay\u2019s global technology, platform and digital payments expertise to deliver a more resilient, innovative and future-fit fintech operating model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The business operates in a high-growth, high-complexity environment where platform stability, operational excellence, security, scalability and customer trust are critical. As MTN Fintech markets transition onto the MIDAS-enabled platform, strong post go-live operations, infrastructure management, service resilience and security governance will be essential to ensuring reliable 24\/7 business-critical financial services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Manager: Senior Site Reliability Engineer <\/strong>(SRE) is responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, performance and resilience of MIDAS core wallet services after go-live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The role operates within the Infrastructure, Operations and Security function and provides hands-on reliability engineering, production support, observability, incident analysis, capacity planning, resource management, disaster recovery support and DevOps automation for business-critical wallet services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The incumbent participates in the design and development of SRE and DevOps tooling covering capacity planning, resource utilisation, disaster recovery, fault analysis, monitoring, alerting, operational dashboards and automated service health checks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The role refines data-led operations by analysing availability indicators, historical incidents, resource utilisation, error trends, system bottlenecks and operational risk patterns, and converts these insights into practical reliability improvement initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The role is also responsible for capturing operational best practices, providing input into architecture design and component selection, and producing clear technical documentation, runbooks and knowledge artefacts that improve supportability and operational readiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Core Essential Responsibilities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Strategy Development and Implementation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support the Senior Manager: Infrastructure, Operations and Security Lead in implementing the MIDAS site reliability and production operations strategy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Define and apply SRE standards, service health indicators, SLIs, SLOs, alert thresholds and reliability improvement routines for core wallet services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Translate platform and business requirements into reliability engineering plans covering observability, capacity planning, automation, disaster recovery, fault analysis and operational documentation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contribute SRE best practices to architecture design, component selection, service readiness, release planning and production support models.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drive a future-fit reliability approach that improves availability, service quality, automation, operational data visibility and incident prevention.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Operational Delivery<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Core Wallet Stability and Site Reliability<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ensure the stability, reliability and performance of MIDAS core wallet services across production environments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitor service health, availability, latency, throughput, transaction success rates, error rates, resource utilisation and service dependencies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide hands-on production support for incidents, degraded services, recurring faults and high-priority operational issues.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct root cause analysis and post-incident reviews, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are documented, prioritised and closed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify system weaknesses using incident history, operational telemetry and platform behaviour, and implement reliability improvement actions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Observability, Monitoring and Data Operations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Develop, maintain and improve monitoring, alerting, dashboards and observability practices for MIDAS wallet services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refine data operations by tracking availability indicators, incident patterns, resource utilisation, capacity trends and operational risk signals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use logs, metrics, traces and service health data to enable proactive detection, faster troubleshooting and improved service performance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DevOps Tooling, Automation and Resource Management<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Participate in the design and development of DevOps and SRE tools for capacity planning, resource management, disaster recovery, fault analysis and operational reporting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop scripts, utilities or automation in Java, Python, Go, Shell or similar languages to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Automate repetitive operational tasks, health checks, reporting routines, alert triage and support workflows where feasible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support capacity planning and resource optimisation across compute, storage, network, database, middleware, APIs, containers and cloud-native components.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Incident, Problem, Change and Release Support<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support ITIL-aligned incident, problem, change and release practices for MIDAS production services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure incidents are investigated, documented, escalated and resolved in line with agreed severity levels, SLAs and escalation protocols.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support change readiness, release validation, backout planning, production verification and service acceptance for new deployments and platform changes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain runbooks, incident notes, technical documents, known error records and knowledge articles to improve support readiness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Disaster Recovery and Operational Resilience<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support disaster recovery design, planning, testing, backup validation, failover readiness and service continuity activities for wallet services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Validate recovery procedures and contribute to improvements in RTO, RPO, resilience testing and operational continuity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify operational risks and dependencies affecting service resilience and support mitigation planning with infrastructure, security and engineering teams.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Architecture, Security and Operational Readiness Support<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide operational input into business architecture design and component selection to ensure services are supportable, resilient and operationally efficient.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apply strong understanding of Linux systems, TCP\/IP, HTTP, network architecture and computer architecture to diagnose production issues and improve service reliability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support secure operations by contributing to system hardening, access control, patch compliance, vulnerability remediation and security configuration activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cross-Functional Collaboration and Knowledge Management<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Work closely with engineering, infrastructure, security, product, vendor and partner teams to resolve issues and improve production stability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communicate clearly with business and technology stakeholders during incidents, operational reviews and improvement initiatives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Document SRE practices, operational patterns, lessons learned and technical procedures to build reusable operations knowledge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Governance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Strategic Meetings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Participate in service reviews, incident reviews, problem reviews, capacity planning sessions, release readiness forums and disaster recovery exercises.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide SRE input into production stability, operational risk, monitoring, automation, resilience and service improvement discussions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support development of standards, procedures, runbooks and technical documentation for SRE and production support practices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Escalations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Escalate incidents, platform risks or service weaknesses that may result in material customer impact, business disruption, SLA breach, security risk or reputational exposure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support major incident coordination by providing technical analysis, status updates, fault isolation and recovery recommendations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Track escalated issues to closure and ensure lessons learned are converted into measurable improvement actions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reporting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prepare periodic SRE reports covering availability, incidents, problems, resource utilisation, capacity, change impact, service health and improvement actions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide ad hoc reports on major incidents, recurring faults, DR readiness, performance issues and operational risk items as required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The \u201cMust-haves\u201d we look for in an incumbent<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Education<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minimum 4-year tertiary degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems or related field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certification or training in SRE, DevOps, Linux, cloud, Kubernetes, ITIL or platform operations advantageous.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certifications such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, Linux, ITIL, DevOps, SRE Foundation, Prometheus \/ Grafana, or similar advantageous.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minimum 6\u20138 years\u2019 experience in site reliability engineering, DevOps, production support, IT operations, infrastructure operations or platform engineering.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience supporting business-critical production systems in payments, banking, fintech, telecoms or large-scale internet platforms strongly preferred.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deep understanding of Linux systems, TCP\/IP, HTTP and core network \/ computer architecture concepts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with at least one programming or scripting language such as Java, Python, Go, Shell or equivalent, with ability to build tools that improve operational efficiency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in monitoring, observability, capacity planning, resource management, incident analysis, disaster recovery and production readiness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with cloud-native platforms, containers, microservices, APIs, CI\/CD pipelines, configuration management and automation advantageous.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience working in multinational, cross-border or partner-led delivery environments preferred.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p
