Position: Database Administrator (DBA)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The DBA is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of databases used in our payment processing systems, ensuring optimal performance and data integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Database Design and Architecture: Plan and design database structures to meet business needs and ensure optimal performance.

2) Database Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain database management systems such as Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.

3) Backup and Recovery: Implement and manage database backup and recovery solutions to ensure data availability and disaster recovery readiness.

4) Performance Monitoring and Tuning: Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, and configurations to improve efficiency.

5) Data Security Management: Enforce database security policies, implement access controls, and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., PCI DSS).

6) Capacity Planning: Forecast and manage database storage requirements to ensure scalability for future growth.

7) Replication and High Availability: Set up and maintain database replication and clustering for fault tolerance and high availability.

8) Database Upgrades and Patches: Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations while minimizing downtime.

9) User Management: Create and manage database user accounts, roles, and permissions to ensure proper access control.

10) Troubleshooting and Incident Resolution: Identify and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks and connectivity problems.).

Key skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Database Management Systems Expertise: Proficiency with popular DBMS platforms like Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
• SQL Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of SQL for querying, updating, and optimizing databases.
• Performance Tuning Skills: Expertise in optimizing database queries, indexing, and system performance.
• Backup and Recovery Knowledge: Strong understanding of backup strategies, tools, and recovery techniques.
• Data Security Awareness: Knowledge of database security principles, encryption, and regulatory compliance standards like GDPR or PCI DSS.
• Scripting and Automation: Ability to use scripting languages like Bash, PowerShell, or Python to automate database tasks.
• High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Experience with replication, clustering, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities for resolving complex database issues.
• Knowledge of Operating Systems: Familiarity with Linux/Unix and Windows environments for managing database servers.
• Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication skills to work with developers, system administrators, and stakeholders.
